What Should I Wear To Court?

What Should I Wear to Court in Denton, Cooke, or Wise County?

One question I’m typically asked is “What should I wear to court?” Most courts have explicit rules on your attire that could prevent you from entering the court if broken.

Wearing any of the following will likely prevent you from entering the court:

Shorts

Sandals/Flip-Flops

Headwear

Clothing with offensive words or pictures

Sleeveless shirts

Lowcut shirts

I advise individuals to dress like you want to make a good impression. From the moment you enter the courtroom you are being observed by many people, including the judge and/or a jury.

For hearings, business casual is appropriate. For trials, business professional attire is appropriate.

If you are unsure what to wear, ask your attorney.
